STAT 1770 - Introduction to Probability and Statistics

This course introduces fundamental concepts in descriptive statistics and data visualization. Students will learn about measures of central tendency and dispersion, essential probability principles, and the analysis of both discrete and continuous random variables. The syllabus covers expectation, binomial, normal, and Student's t-distributions. Additional topics include statistical inference and estimation for various sample sizes, the Central Limit Theorem, and an introduction to linear regression and correlation. Throughout the course, students will use statistical software to apply these concepts.
